Welcome to the Penniwells Riding for the Disabled. Our aim is to provide disabled people with the opportunity to ride to benefit their health and well being.
Penniwells provides riding & stable management sessions for adults & children.
Penniwells RDA Centre was established in 1980 and leases 16 acres of prime ground from Hertfordshire Council. We are located off Barnet Lane in Elstree, North London.
Penniwells has 13 active horses and ponies, all of which are fully trained for this unique and demanding work.
Penniwells has a small but dedicated army of volunteers without whom we would not be able to function. There are only three paid employees and it can take up to 3 people to enable one rider, a leader and 2 side helpers. Each week up to 140 riders attend lessons at Penniwells, so the commitment from our volunteers is hugely important and demanding.
Penniwells RDA is dedicated to ensuring that all our riders receive a high standard of professional tuition tailored to their personal ambitions and capabilities. Our instructors work closely with physiotherapists and other health professionals to encourage every individual to aim for attainable goals – some modest, others far more ambitious.
While competition plays a healthy role in RDA activities, our focus is to ensure that all our riders gain maximum benefit from a positive and enjoyable form of exercise.
