Our ponies are of all ages and sizes. Because of their individual shapes and personalities we have a wide range to suit the varying needs we cater for.

Penniwells has a maximum weight limit of 12 stone - This is a riding weight not a scale weight - All riders sit differently once on the pony and so we have to take this into consideration during the assesment process.

Our smallest pony is 11.2hh called Flossie and the largest are Tyson, Prince and Pod who all stand at 15.2hh.

As much as possible we use normal tack for our riders but will make adjustments if required.  The main part of the tack we adapt the most is the reins - we have many different types for people to try!

All our ponies are schooled regularly and hacked out by staff and volunteers - This helps to keep them fit, healthy and happy for the job they are here to do.

They all receive first class care with stables fitted with rubber matting and our chosen bedding of wooburn woodchip on top.

The blacksmith comes to visit every 6 weeks and more often if any lose shoes in the field etc.

The Royal Vet College at Potters Bar look after all our needs in this area from routine vaccinations to emergency call outs.

We have to go out and find all our ponies - very rarely are we offered any for free! Plenty of fundraising goes on each year to purchase new ponies and all the tack that goes with them.

Many of our ponies will be coming up for retirement in the next few years so the process of finding new ones never goes away!
